About me
Julia Brown is a professional visual artist living and working in Holmfirth, West Yorkshire.
Brown studied BA(Hons) Fine Art at the University of Huddersfield (1997–2000), under the guidance of artists Beverley-Anne Little and Matthew Burrows MBE.
Since then, she has developed a distinctive, expressive approach that leans into abstraction, texture, and atmosphere. Her semi-abstract paintings are rooted in the sensory and emotional experience of the natural world.
Her work has been shortlisted for the New Light Art Prize (2020/21), the Cooper Prize (2021), and the Tarpey Gallery Open (2021, 2024), and she shows regularly with galleries across the UK.
